New Delhi : An animal welfare organisation in India Tuesday raised concern over Britain’s plans to deploy dogs in battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

In a letter written to the British High Commissioner to India, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) opposed the British defence ministry proposal of deploying dogs in situations that are too dangerous for soldiers.

The Special Air Service (SAS) team in Britain has revealed plans of parachuting in German Shepherds to spy on rebels to cut down casualty rates in Iraq and Afghanistan.
