BJP indulged in political terrorism: Congress

By IANS,

New Delhi : Accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of indulging in “political terrorism”, the Congress Wednesday said it had attacked people’s faith in parliament by displaying wads of currency notes, allegedly received as bribes, in the house ahead of Tuesday’s trust vote.

“The act by three BJP MPs has forever polluted the temple of democracy and it was nothing short of political terrorism calculated to destroy faith in parliament,” Congress spokesperson Jayanthi Natarajan said.

“The entire sordid episode is false and stage-managed with the sole interest of diverting attention from the trust vote and it was nothing more than a desperate act by the party (BJP),” she said.

During the debate on the trust vote, the three BJP MPs, Ashok Argal (Morena), Faggan Singh Kulaste (Mandla) and Mahavir Bhagora (Salumber), walked towards the speaker’s chair flashing money alleging that Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and Congress leader Ahmed Patel had given the money to them to abstain from voting.

Eventually, the government won the vote comfortably.

“We will go forward with new energy to tackle issues of common people like poverty, unemployment and farmers issues. We will also go forward in taking the India-US nuclear deal to its logical conclusion,” Natarajan added.
