New Delhi : Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and general secretary Amar Singh met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence Saturday evening.
Though it was not immediately known what transpired during the meeting, party insiders indicated that there was the likelihood of a cabinet reshuffle in the first week of August in which some Samajwadi Party MPs could be inducted.
However, Mohan Singh, a Samajwadi party MP, termed as speculation reports of the party joining the government.
“It was basically a goodwill meeting. Now both parties have to remain with each other in future. Our leaders just discussed about the upcoming elections,” Mohan Singh said.
The Samajwadi Party stepped in to support the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government following the Left parties withdrawal July 8, helping it win a trust vote in parliament Tuesday.
