Beirut : Lebanese President Michel Suleiman affirmed on Saturday that the things that bring Syria and Lebanon together outnumber the things that separate them.
He stressed that the strong and capable Syria can give and support Lebanon, while Lebanon can only exchange that with honesty, not by being an agent for harming Syria.
During his meeting with a delegation from the Syrian-Palestinian Legal Committee for the Right of Return, Suleiman affirmed that Lebanon will keep on working to achieve this honesty in dealing with Syria, saying:
“We will prove to all skeptics that Syria provides Lebanon with what it wants and what comforts it.”
He went on to say that Syria and Lebanon have a common enemy and mutual interests and thoughts, underlining that the two countries can achieve much through amity and cooperation and that he has great hopes for Syrian-Lebanese relations.
“We are strong when Syria is strong, and when Lebanon is divided and devoid of peace and quiet, Syria suffers from that. We are moving in the right direction, and with everyone’s support we can achieve what we want.”
In addition, the Lebanese President expressed his refusal of the integration of Palestinian people based on Lebanon’s adherence to the Palestinians’ right of return.
