New Delhi : Delhi Police Monday received an anonymous call saying that a bomb has been planted in an auto-rickshaw parked outside the Karkardooma Court complex.

According to the police, a call was received at about 12.30 p.m. and a team along with Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the court complex. The call turned out to be a hoax.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East district) Ajay Chaudhary said: “We got a call that an auto-rickshaw containing a suspicious bag is parked outside the complex. When we checked it, we found some documents in the bag and the driver had also come during the investigations.”

Meanwhile, security was beefed up inside the court complex. Two teams of Delhi Police were deployed and metal detectors were installed at the two main entrances of the complex.

“Somebody called up the police thinking that a bag in the auto without its driver nearby might be suspicious,” the senior police officer added.

A meeting was also called by A.K. Pathak, judge-in-charge of Karkardooma court, with the Shahdara Bar Association to beef up the security inside the court complex.

“We have demanded that more police personnel be deployed in the court and also CCTV camera be installed as a precautionary measure, ” said D.D. Pandey, secretary of the Shahdara Bar Association.
