Lee does not mind the heavy workload

By IANS,

New Delhi : Brett Lee might be overburdened with the workload after the retirement of Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne, but the Australian pacer is not complaining. He rather wants to play every match for Australia.

Lee, who has lived under the shadows of bowling greats McGrath and Warne, says he is enjoying the tag of Australia’s bowling spearhead.

“Yes the workload is there but I want to try to play every match for Australia. I have been the 12th man for a very long time, so I don’t mind the extra work. In fact, I cherish the No.1 bowlers tag,” said, Lee who recently became the fastest bowler to reach 300 wickets.

“I have a heavy schedule ahead and I am aware that I have got to monitor in such a way that it does not affect my longevity in the game,” said Lee who was here for a promotional event.

Lee was all praise for young spinner Beau Casson, who made his debut against West Indies last month.

“It is important to have a frontline spinner in a team. After Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill, he is the next in line. He performed well in West Indies even though he is young and has played only a handful of matches.

“He is also a good batsman and will bring stability to the side. He will bring a lot to the team,” Lee said.
