Brussels : EU Foreign Policy Chief Javier Solana here Monday said he “condemns in the strongest possible terms the despicable bombing attack that took many innocent lives and injured dozens of people in Istanbul yesterday evening.” Solana in a statement expressed his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the families of the victims and to the Turkish government.
“In these difficult moments, Turkey can count on the support of the European Union. I hope that the perpetrators of this heinous terrorist act will be swiftly brought to justice,” he added.
In a separate statement, the European Commission also condemned the Istanbul attacks and expressed its solidarity with the Turkish people in the fight against terrorism.
