Three Hamas fighters hurt in Gaza incursion

By Xinhua,

Gaza : Three Hamas militants were wounded Sunday morning by Israeli missiles in the fire exchange with invading Israeli troops in southeast Gaza Strip.

Palestinian paramedics said two fighters were injured in the first airstrike which took place after the Israeli forces rolled for 1.5 km in the eastern part of Khan Younis city in southern Gaza Strip. The third fighter was hurt in a consequent strike.

Hamas said the three were members of its armed wing, Ezz el-Deen al-Qassam Brigades, and they were wounded in the incursion which started two hours after midnight.

Meanwhile, Israeli sources said that an Israeli soldier was moderately wounded during the clashes with the armed Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Israel carries out daily incursions into border areas of the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip and often exchanges fire with the Palestinian militants who keep an eye at the border.

Israel says the operations are intended to distance the militants from the security fence and to reduce rocket attacks on Israeli communities near Gaza.

On Sunday morning, the military wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah movement claimed responsibility for firing five rockets into western Negev of Israel.

The rockets landed in open spaces and caused no casualties or damages.
