Jakarta : An earthquake with magnitude of 5.5rocked Sumatra Island of Indonesia on Tuesday afternoon, but there was no report of damage or casualty, meteorology agency said here.
The quake struck at 17:15 Jakarta time (1015 GMT) with the epicenter at 104 kilometers northwest Tanah Massa of North Sumatra province and at 29 kilometers in depth, an official of the agency said.
Indonesia sits at a vulnerable zone called “the Pacific Ring of Fire” where two continental plates meet that cause frequent volcanic movements.
