49-member committee to be formed to draft CA regulations in Nepal

By Xinhua,

Kathmandu : The second meeting of Nepali Constituent Assembly (CA) held on Thursday decided to form a 49-member committee in order to draft the CA regulations.

The meeting, held at International Conference Center in Nepali capital Kathmandu, decided to form the CA regulations drafting committee, to which all the 25 CA political parties will send their representatives.

Chairman of the Constituent Assembly Kul Bahadur Gurung announced the decision and said that the next meeting would take place on June 11.

The CA meeting took place after major Nepali political parties failed to reach a consensus on key issues about new government formation and Interim Constitution amending.

The single largest party in CA, the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) on Thursday has decided to give up its claim for the post of president, saying that the first president of republican Nepal should be chosen from the civil society. The party had claimed earlier that they would take both posts of the president and premier of the newly-born republic country.
