Himachal government to assist in revival of miniature paintings

Shimla : Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal Saturday called upon artists to revive the miniature paintings of Kangra school and promised government assistance.

Inaugurating Strokes of Kangra, an exhibition of Kangra miniatures here, he said the government would assist the Kangra Arts Promotion Society, Dharamsala, in popularising the art among the public.

The exhibition was organised by the Kangra society in association with the state department of language and culture.

He also announced that the government would restart the Sardar Shobha Singh Award, named after the renowned painter from the state, this year.
