UAE charity to launch primary education programmes in Yemen

By IANS,

Dubai : The United Arab Emirates-based charity Dubai Cares has announced that it would implement primary education programmes in Yemen in alliance with CARE International, WAM news agency reported Tuesday.

The programmes would improve the quality of education available to 36,000 primary age children in the rural governorate of Hajja and place special emphasis on providing education to girls.

The programmes would include the construction of nearly 100 primary schools in the under-served areas and the training of more than 200 women as primary teaching assistants.

“The impact of our intervention is long-term, and will be felt long after the initial phase of our programme is complete. By building 100 schools in the first four years, Dubai Cares’ effort in Yemen will translate into tangible results,” said Reem Al Hashimy, chairperson of the Dubai Cares board of directors.

“Dubai Cares hopes to impact the lives of the country’s children positively and constructively,” she added.
