Raipur : Monsoon finally enveloped Thursday almost the whole of Chhattisgarh, two days after the state received the first showers.
The Metrological department said the southwest monsoon had become active across the state except ín the northern district of Korea.
“Almost the entire state is experiencing the first showers of the current monsoon season,” Met director M.L. Sahu said in a statement.
Forecasting a normal monsoon this year, Sahu added that paddy rich Chhattisgarh would get a bumper crop if there was no shortfall of rains in the state.
Raipur, Durg, Bilaspur, Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund districts besides the entire Bastar region have been lashed by rains since Thursday morning. The rains have flooded low-lying areas and slums here.
