Tehran : China Foreign Ministry director general in political affairs, who is accompanying EU representative Javier Solana to his trip to Tehran, said we must concentrate on common points of the two proposed packages.
Answering a question concerning Beijing’s stance on this issue, the Chinese senior diplomat Ji Ye Liu said, “China strongly supports NPT and maintaining peace in the region and also we believe Iran case must be solves through negotiation.”
He pointed out, “Proposed packages of both sides as well as letter of foreign ministers of 5+1 group would prepare ground for peaceful solution of Iran’s nuclear program.”
The Chinese official said, “We know Iran is interested to solve the issue through negotiation and China welcomes Iran’s proposed package.”
He continued, “We hope Iran can take advantage of the opportunity,” adding “China as well as others move in a direction of a constructive method.”
The official, who was speaking in the press conference at the German ambassador’s residence in Tehran on Saturday late afternoon, concluded, “My proposal is to concentrate on constructive meetings which we had today and consider common points of both packages to be able to start negotiation as soon as possible.”
