Jammu : The incessant and heavy showers which have been lashing the Jammu and Kashmir for the last four to five days are infact monsoon rains. The early arrival of monsoon not only has been keeping the rising mercury level down but also has brought smiles to everyone’s face.
Meteorological department officials informed News Agency of Kashmir that the rains which have been lashing the entire Jammu and Kashmir for the last four to five days are infact monsoon rains and this time monsoon has hit Jammu and Kashmir 15 days ahead of its schedule.
“Normally, monsoon arrives in Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of July but this time it hits the state 15 days ahead to its scheduled,” informed official sources, adding that the state, which has experienced one of the coolest summers in the recent times, received record summer showers in June, which is known for heat wave conditions.
The Met department officials have recorded a rainfall of 108 mm till June 14. The minimum temperature recorded on Sunday was 23 degrees Celsius, two to four notches below normal, the Met said. The maximum settled at 32.0 degrees Celsius on Saturday. The Meteorological Department too had forecast a “good” monsoon this year despite factors affecting world weather.
