Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Muslims in Uttar Pradesh are feeling insecure as all types of state cruelty is being perpetrated against them on the pretext of terrorism, said Mohammad Shafi Qureshi, Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities (NMC).
Speaking in a meeting of NMC held at Sahkarita Bhawan in the city, he said Muslims are being subjected to immense coercion and pressure in the name of terrorism.
On the other hand, people from various quarters of the society have expressed serious doubt as far as the Special Task Force’s (STF) version of events is concerned, which subsequently puts the credentials of STF in doubt. Investigation reports tell that STF has killed several Muslim youths in the state on the pretext of terrorism. STF had also concocted a false story in the case of the bomb blast at Sankat Mochan Mandir in Varanasi.
Muslims in Lucknow now demand the government to stop tyrannies and excesses against Muslims by dissolving STF. They also demand the release of the innocent persons arrested so far in this connection.
The STF was formed in 2007 in the state to deal with ‘terrorism’. But its biased attitude and treatment of a particular community has left the community in general terrorised and frightened.
