Islamabad : Pakistan Friday renamed the Islamabad International Airport as Benazir Bhutto International Airport.
The decision was made on the eve of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s birth anniversary Saturday.
Bhutto was killed at the gate of Liaquat Bagh park in the city of Rawalpindi Dec 27 last year after addressing an election rally.
Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani also named the General Hospital in Rawalpindi as Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
A monument would be built at the site where Bhutto was assassinated. The design of the monument would be selected through an open international bidding.
