Jammu : More than 100 Bihar Police cadets fled Saturday from a Border Security Force (BSF) training centre in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir after an alleged sodomy attempt on one of their colleagues.
According to official sources, the cadets, all of them from Bihar, fled after one trainee was allegedly sexually attacked by one of the trainers.
The victim raised an alarm and was saved by the fellow cadets, the source said.
Deputy Inspector General BSF, Asif Ali, told reporters that some recruits had left the training centre but refused to elaborate on the subject.
Sources said that trainers routinely harass the cadets but this is the first time that a sodomy charge has been levelled.
Udhampur is 60 km from the state’s summer capital Srinagar. It also houses the police training academy and is the headquarters of Indian Army’s northern command.
