Munich : A steady Shiv Kapur improved his position by 10 spots with a one-under 71 but fellow Indian Jyoti Randhawa went three-over 75 and clipped 25 places in the third round of the BMW International Open on the European Tour.
Kapur shot 71 to bring his aggregate to two-under 214 and climbed 10 spots from overnight tied 57th to tied 47th. Kapur’s 71 included birdies on the fifth, 14th, 16th and bogeys on the third and 13th.
However, Randhawa shot 75 in round three and slipped from overnight tied 27th to tied 52nd with a total of one-under 215. Randhawa sank four birdies and dropped seven bogeys in his round Saturday.
Earlier, Jeev Milkha Singh missed the cut in the second round.
Martin Kaymer, winner of the Abu Dhabi Open this year, took a six-stroke lead into the final round and looks all set to win his second title and provide the first home winner in 20 years of BMW International Open. Kaymer also led by six going into the final round of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in January.
Curiously it was an Indian, Arjun Atwal, who had overcome an even bigger lead on final day, when he came from seven behind to win the Maybank Malaysian Open earlier in the season.
A 23-year-old from Dusseldorf, Kaymer was firmly in control, holing a 25 foot putt on the final green at Golfclub München Eichenried for a five under par 67 to take him to 18 under par 198 and six clear of his closest rival, South African Charl Schwartzel.
Joint third, one further back, are English trio Paul Casey, Ross Fisher and Benn Barham and Frenchman Thomas Levet.
Kaymer, winner of last year’s Rookie of the Year award will be making his Open Championship debut at Royal Birkdale in a month’s time. He currently lies 10th in the Ryder Cup race but can leap up to sixth with victory.
