German football to extend contract with Loew

By Xinhua,

Vienna : German Football Federation (DFB) president Theo Zwanziger said they would like to extend their contract with coach Joachim Loew.

After taking over from Jurgen Klinsmann after the 2006 World Cup, Loew has done an impressive job as Germany coach.

After Germany reached the final of Euro 2008 Wednesday, Zwanziger said Loew just needs to express his interest in a new deal.

“He can come to us whenever he wants – in 2009 or 2010 – and we will sit down together,” he said.

“We have to make the environment for his work even better. There are new tasks ahead including the World Cup qualification against Russia.”

Zwanziger described Loew as a “great trainer”, but said DFB also has other options after 2010 if necessary.

“Our system is not necessarily dependent on one person,” Zwanziger said.
