A senior Jammu and Kashmir police officer said 20 people including two cops were wounded in Monday’s clashes in north Kashmir Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipore districts and in southern Anantnag district.

Police fired rubber bullets for the first time and teargas shells and later resorted to repeated baton charge to disperse stone pelting mobs at Sheeri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in the evening.

Mobs shouting anti-SASB and anti-India slogans blocked the road and held protests.

One critically injured person was shifted to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for treatment.

In capital Srinagar, hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani led a protest demonstration through the Old City against the land allotment to SASB.

Meanwhile, state authorities have tightened security arrangements in Srinagar and other towns. Action committee against land allotment has asked people to march to the central Jamia Masjid Tuesday for a protest rally.
