Sopore : Minister for Social Welfare Abdul Gani Vakil has said that people of the state are fortunate enough to have a leader like Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Asserting that Ghulam Nabi Azad during his short span of time as Chief Minister has taken some revolutionary measures to bring socio-economic transformation back on the rails in the state. He said that some historic decisions were also taken by the Azad led government for the welfare of the people. Mr. Vakil said that unforgettable historic decisions include implementation of Roshni Act, constitution of Round Table Conference and setting up of new administrative units and enactment of law against corruption.
Addressing well attended public meeting at Dangiwacha today, the Minister said that all of us have to strengthen the national party for tackling unemployment, restoration of peace besides ensuring over all development of Jammu and Kashmir. This, he said, would pave way for translating the dream of Azad’s Khushaal Kashmir into reality. He said liberal funding by the Central government to the state has resulted in visible and perceptible change in the development scenario and their fruit has reached the remotest areas of the state.
Vakil said the government is committed to provide basic amenities as the Azad led government believes in transparency and accountability and not in mere emotional sloganeering. He cautioned those involved in corrupt practices to shun this evil right now as the government has vowed to eliminate corruption from the state and initiate stringent punishments against corrupt elements.
The Minister said that though the government has launched various schemes to tackle unemployment problem, however, more efforts are underway to generate employment opportunities for the unemployed. In this connection, the cabinet recently approved 6700 Anganwari centres for the state for which recruitment process will be started shortly.
Earlier, the Minister distributed cheques worth Rs. 30 lakh among 750 deserving persons and nylon thread to the fishermen at Dak Bungalow, Sopore.
Later, Mr. Vakil laid foundations of additional block of HSS Dangiwacha to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh and an additional building costing Rs. 16 lakh for middle school. He also laid foundation of health centre at Achabal coming up at a cost of Rs. 6.50 lakh.
