Iran calls for expansion of economic ties with African states

Tehran : Cooperatives Minister Mohammad Abbassi conferred in Abidjan on Saturday with Ivory Coast’s Prime Minister Guillaume Soro on expansion of mutual cooperation.

At the meeting, the Iranian minister said the Islamic Republic of Iran attached importance to expansion of ties with African countries.

According to the Public Relations Department of Cooperatives Ministry, Abbasi said Iran is to broaden economic cooperation with African countries and the Ivory Coast in particular.

He expressed the hope that through collective cooperation of both countries’ officials, they will witness development of Ivory Coast in all sectors.

The Ivory Coast premier, for his part, expressed satisfaction with the visit of the Iranian economic delegation to Abidjan and said Iran is an independent country with huge scientific, economic, cultural and tourism potentials which could be a great assistance for his country.

People in Ivory Coast welcomed Iranian made products, he said and called for transfer of Iran’s economic expertise to his country.

The two sides also reviewed holding the first ever Iran’s exclusive cooperatives fair in Ivory Coast.

Iran’s minister of cooperatives heading a 50 member delegation is in Abidjan to discuss expansion of economic cooperation between the two countries.
