Sydney : Advisor at the Kuwaiti Premier’s Diwan Sheikh Dr. Salem Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah received Timor Leste’s acting President Fernando Lasama on Saturday in Australia’s Darwin province.
While lauding overall bilateral ties, Lasama expressed heartfelt gratitude for Kuwaiti leadership’s wishes of speedy recovery to ailed Timor Leste President Jose Ramos-Horta, who is currently being treated at the Royal Darwin Hospital.
The two officials discussed overall ties between the two nations, as well as the upcoming visit to Kuwait by Timor Leste’s premier during next April.
The meeting was attended by Kuwait Ambassador to Australia and New Zealand Jamal Mohammad Al-Ghunaim and Timor Leste ambassador to Australia.
According to Timor Leste’s constitution, once the president is absent or unable to assume his duties, parliament speaker would become acting head of state.
