Pakistan: call for setting up poly-technical institutions

Islamabad : The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has stressed the need for establishing technical educational institutions across the country to overcome shortage of skilled manpower.

In a meeting with Director Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA), Yasmin Munir, the ICCI President that there was a great shortage of skilled manpower, which could only be overcome with the help of TEVTA and other technical training institutes.

“Establishment of poly-technique institutes is must as these certainly help produce quality and skilled manpower,” the ICCI president observed.

He was of the view that TEVTA and other technical training institutes should conduct surveys to know the requirement of trade and industry to produce right technical manpower adding that collaboration between TEVTA and Chambers should also be enhanced to benefit business community.

He was of the view that by promoting technical education, the unemployment could be reduced to a great extent adding that trade and industries do have great demand for skilled people.

Speaking on the occasion, Director TEVTA said that industries should give priority to the people who got trainings from TEVTA and other technical training institutes.

She also gave details of various training programs by TEVTA at various places in the country and said that the chambers will be provided soft copies of the lists that will help skilled people to be induced in the industries and trade setups.
