US Air Force Bombs Somalia

Nairobi : US Air Force bombed on Monday an alleged guerrillas’ base of the Islamic Courts Union in a Somali area near Kenya’s border.

The military operation was executed on Sunday morning at about 03:00 local hour when a US plane targeted three bombs over three objectives of Dhole locality, two of them houses, said a tribal leader.

According to Dhole’s tribal chief Abdullahi Sheikh four civilians died during the attack.

A guerrilla’s sources also confirmed the incursion.

Muktar Robow affirmed the US troops bombarded the locality and attacked civilian objectives thinking it was the Islamic combatants’ shelter.

Dhole is an area in southern Somalia controlled by guerrillas since three months ago and its military chief Hassan Turki is Darog Ogadeni’s tribal leader dwelling along the south of the neighbor country and the border with northern Kenya.

Press media noted that Turki position deeply favors the region that was bombarded by US in several occasions early in 2007.
