Nepal : The Home Ministry of Nepal on Tuesday said that all the 12 persons aboard the United Nations Mission In Nepal (UNMIN) helicopter that crashed at Bhwasa of Bethan VDC-9 in Ramechhap district on Monday afternoon are dead.
According to Kantipuronline, issuing a press statement, the Ministry confirmed that the bodies of the 12 persons, who were on board, have been recovered.
The statement added that the bodies of ten people killed in the accident were burnt beyond recognition while the two other bodies were found stuck in the engine in mutilated condition.
However, the UNMIN has claimed that only 10 persons were killed in the incident.
The UNMIN has confirmed that three Nepali UN personnel, four international arms monitors from Gambia, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea and Sweden and the air crew, from a Russian company, comprising two Russians and one Belarussian were on board.
On behalf of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, UNMIN Chief Ian Martin said, “I express my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, and UNMIN will continue in the midst of this tragedy to apply its best efforts to this purpose.”
