Washington : Four adults and two children have been found dead in a house in Memphis, Tennessee in southern US, and three other children rescued gravely wounded.
All five children killed or wounded were younger than 12 years, the Commercial Appeal in Memphis daily said. The bodies were found late Monday.
The three survivors were hospitalized in extremely critical condition, though the conditions of two were later stated to have improved.
Most of the victims were shot, though at least one child suffered stab wounds, the newspaper reported, citing an emergency response source.
An initial statement from police said neither the time of the killings nor the motive was known.
The house where the victims were found was rented by a couple with at least two children. A relative called police when there was no answer at the door, and officers found the dead and wounded in the living room and bedrooms.
