Vienna : International Atomic Energy Agency’s Board of Governors ended its Wednesday session after investigating Iran’s nuclear case based on the Agency Chief Mohammad ElBaradei’s report.
The session ended as the IAEA chief summed up his findings on Iran’s nuclear case and briefed the participants on his conclusion.
Iran’s IAEA envoy Ali-Asghar Soltanieh told reporters after the meeting that ElBaradei’s conclusion reflected major portion of positive views and the NAM statements.
Soltanieh said the conclusion welcomes progress in solving the remaining issues.
Most important, he added, is the point that despite US pressure and its efforts over the past two weeks, no resolution was issued against Iran.
Soltanieh said active diplomacy and Iran’s consultations as well as NAM’s unsparing support practically prevented the materialization of the call for another anti-Iran resolution at the Board.
Soltanieh had in an address to the Board session on Wednesday said Iran has constantly based its nuclear policy on cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency which proved that all
disinformation and negative propaganda about Iran’s nuclear program and activities are nothing but short-sighted and narrowly defined interests of a few, Iranian ambassador to IAEA said on Wednesday.
Soltanieh said that those unlawful actions would only undermine the authority, credibility and integrity of the Agency.
He said any politically motivated attempt at jeopardizing the existing positive atmosphere in Vienna would face strong opposition by almost all member states.
In his statement before the Board of Governors, he expressed gratitude to the member states ‘who tried hard during this week, particularly the Non-Aligned Movement and its chairperson to keep the momentum and constructive environment that resulted from Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA’.
