Jakarta : An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted Indonesia’s province of Aceh on Thursday at 00:04 am local time, Indonesia’s Antara news agency reported.
The epicentre of the quake, which did not trigger tsunami, was located at 5.22 degrees northern longitude and 94.72 degrees eastern latitude at a depth of 10 km below sea level, the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG)’s spokesmen said.
The BMG reported the quake’s epicentre was located around 76 km southwest of Banda Aceh, 99 km southwest of Sabang, 139 km southwest of Sigli, 196 km northwest of Meulaboh and 220 km northwest of Bireuen city.
