Bahadurgarh (Haryana) : One person was killed and 17 others, including five women, injured when an express train hit a Haryana Roadways bus near a manned traffic crossing here Saturday.
According to a Northern Railway official, the accident occurred at around 8.04 a.m. when the Awadh-Assam Express, on its way from Bikaner to Guwahati via Delhi, hit the state-run bus close to the Bahadurgarh railway station.
The 18 injured were admitted to the Bahadurgarh Civil Hospital and Rohtak civil hospital and the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi.
A railway spokesperson told IANS that one person, Rajender, died in the hospital. Two of the injured are battling for their lives, he said.
“The reason for the accident is unknown and a high level probe has been ordered,” said the official.
Train services were affected for four hours. The authorities managed to clear the tracks at around 11.30 a.m.
The Ferozepur-Mumbai express was delayed for at least four hours, said the official.
