Bhopal : The opposition Congress Tuesday accused the government of shielding corrupt officials and staged a walkout from the Madhya Pradesh assembly during question hour.
Alleging corruption in providing lease for land worth Rs.1 billion to Regal Talkies of Indore, Premchand Guddu of the Congress said that the government was trying to shield corrupt officials who should be suspended.
The state’s Urban Administration Development Minister Narottam Mishra, however, denied the charge saying that the government has issued directives for acquiring the land and also suspended three officials who were prima facie found guilty.
Mishra said a show-cause notice has also been issued to one more official, Ashok Baijal. But the Congress lawmakers were not satisfied with the reply and walked out of the House demanding immediate suspension of Baijal.
