Gaza : Hamas is keen on ceasefire in Gaza Strip, as calm seems to have set in for several days now, Radio Israeli said Wednesday.
“This stance comes after Hamas sensed that its authority in Gaza Strip is threatened by instability,” the radio quoted an Israeli senior political source as saying.
The source underscored that toppling Hamas rule must be within the Israeli strategic considerations, but should go inline with other tactical objectives adopted by the Israeli premier and defense minister for the current phase.
Meanwhile, Israel earlier said Hamas fired no missiles from Gaza Strip since Thursday, as part of an undeclared truce realized through Egyptian mediation.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said, Tuesday, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) agreed to halt attacks on Israel in exchange for the latter’s halt of targeted killing of Hamas leaders, but both Israel and Hamas deny any such truce agreement.
