Sydney : Michael Clarke has said the Australian cricket team is relieved that it did not come down to the players to take a call on the tour to Pakistan and Cricket Australia (CA) settled the matter.
“I think everybody, players, public and administrators are happy to know whether we’re going or not going. It was good to find out yesterday afternoon,” Clarke was quoted as saying in The Daily Telegraph.
“I’m rapt that CA have made the decision, instead of it coming down to individual players or the team making a decision. It has been sorted out without the players’ involvement.”
Clarke, who is not playing in the controversial Indian Premier League (IPL), said he was ready for the West Indies series.
The first IPL match is scheduled for April 18 in Bangalore, more than two weeks before the upcoming Australian tour of the West Indies.
However, the possibility of an Australian team camp being organised before the tour could cause a standoff with players wanting to get in a couple of weeks of the IPL season.
“I think there’ll certainly be a camp for the West Indies, it’s just a matter of what Tim Nielsen, Ricky Ponting and the selectors decide, I guess,” Clarke said.
“It won’t bother me, I’ll be home with my family and friends, and so whenever they need me, I’ll be there,” he said.
