La Paz : Bolivia questioned the United States on Wednesday for taking sides with the Bolivian opposition in a human rights report that criticizes alleged attacks on the local media.

According to Justice Minister Celime Torrico, the US report does not reveal the whole truth, since in several incidents it was confirmed attacks came from groups opposed to the Evo Morales administration.

Despite all evidence of the threats issued against reporters were handed over to the Attorney General´s office, attackers has not been punished. A fact, the minister said, that does not appear on the US report.

Bolivia´s Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca stressed his government has unsuccessfully asked United Nations to open a Human Rights office in La Paz.

The diplomat questioned Washington as the only country that has not signed top international covenants on human rights.
