Maharashtra bids farewell to Krishna

Mumbai : Outgoing governor of Maharashtra S.M. Krishna was given a ceremonial farewell here Monday.

The Indian Navy at the Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai gave a ceremonial guard of honour to Krishna.

Seventeen gun salutes were given at the naval coast battery as the governor inspected the guard of honour.

After the ceremony, Krishna was to depart for the airport in a ceremonial drive where Deputy Chief Minister R.R. Patil was to see him off.

Krishna has been serving as the governor of Maharashtra since Dec 6, 2004 and resigned from his post March 8 this year.

The governor of Goa S.C. Jamir took additional charge as the governor of Maharashtra March 9.
