New Delhi: Even after the enforcement of Domestic Violence (Prevention) Act, domestic violence is going on unabated.
The number of cases registered under this act has increased. According to the Ministry for Women and Child Welfare, 364 cases were registered under this act in 2007 whereas the act was enforced in 2006. But according to the information furnished by National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), the number of cases registered under this head in 2005 and 2006 were 155 and 364 respectively. Statistics show crime against women has increased during last three years. According to NCRB statistics, the number of cases of crime against women registered in 2004 was 1,54,333 and 1,55,553 in 2005, including the cases of eve-teasing, attacks on women and use of force against them that are registered under article 354 of IPC.
