Kaku (Jahanabad): With a sinister design to raise communal flare in the otherwise sleepy Sarthwa village in Jahanabad district, a group of hooligans burnt Holika effigy in a Muslim graveyard on the eve of Holi.
To execute their plan, they had forcibly stopped fencing of the graveyard and had been collecting wood for this Holi ritual since Basant Panchmi (Saraswati Puja). What is surprising is that they worked according to their announced plan and the administration remained mute spectator.
Meanwhile, politicians have taken a decision which, apparently meant to please both communities, will make the issue burning for ever. They have decided to construct a door ‘Ekta Darwaza.’ The key of the door will be provided to Hindus for the period between Basant Panchmi to Holi so that they could perform the Holi ritual Holika Dahan in the graveyard.
Imarat Shariah (Bihar, Jharkhand and Orissa) has urged the state government to find out an acceptable solution to the issue. Local people and Muslim representatives have supported the demand.
