Pakistan To Chalk Out New Anti-terrorism Policy

Islamabad : Pakistan’s Interior Ministry would spell out its action plan to curb the menace of terrorism under policy guidelines of new Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani, Pakistan Press International (PPI) quoted a ministry spokesman as saying here Tuesday.

Interior Ministry spokesman Javed Iqbal Cheema said the new government would soon unveil its programme to deal with serious problems confronting the country including fight against extremism and terrorism.

“The Prime Minister would give details of the government’s immediate agenda after obtaining vote of confidence from the National Assembly,” Cheema said.

Gillani, after taking oath on Tuesday administered by President Pervez Musharraf, said he would announce 100-day programme soon after taking the vote of confidence. he stressed that all forces need to join hands to take the country out of current crises.

Meanwhile, Musharraf reiterated his full support to the new government, and urged cooperation in fighting terrorism. “I will extend my full support to him, always,” Musharraf told reporters when asked about his role in the new government.

“All political forces in the country needed to work together to confront threats of extremism and terrorism looming ahead,” Musharraf said.
