Ankara : Turkish President Abdullah Gul and visiting President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on Monday affirmed mutual desire to boost relations between the two countries.
Gul made the remarks at a joint press conference with Berdimuhamedow following their official talks, saying, “We discussed bilateral relations from all perspectives and exchanged viewpoints in order to increase cooperation between Turkey and Turkmenistan.”
“Berdimuhamedow and I affirmed that we have the opportunities to develop our bilateral relations,” stressed Gul.
According to the Turkish president, the two sides also tackled on international issues related to the two countries.
Gul said their discussions were “helpful, fruitful and will shed light on our future relations.”
Speaking highly of the brotherly ties between the two countries, Berdimuhamedow, for his part, said “We have both reached our goals that were set up earlier and I had a successful visit to Ankara.”
He referred to the bilateral economic relations in particular, saying the economic ties are developing rapidly and Turkish companies operate successfully in Turkmenistan with important industrial and social facilities constructed in Turkmenistan.
Berdimuhamedow also pledged to fight against international terrorism, drug smuggling and other current threats.
Cooperation protocols were also signed with Turkmenistan at the same day in the fields of television and economy.
