Mumbai Champs score consolation win in ICL

Gurgaon : Captain Nathan Astle scored a quick fire 42 as Mumbai Champs, who are out of reckoning for semi-finals, registered a consolation 35-run win over Chandigarh Lions here.

Mumbai Champs won the toss and scored 160 for nine wickets in 20 overs and restricted Chandigarh Lions to 125 for eight in 20 overs to emerge victorious at Tau Devi Lal Stadium here Tuesday night.

Astle smashed 42 off 31 balls, including five boundaries and one six, and Ranjit Khirid hit 32 off 21 balls (1×4, 1×6), but South African pacer Andrew Hall restricted the Champs’ progress with a four-wicket haul. Hall finished with excellent figures of 3-0-9-4.

In reply, Chandigarh Lions’ batting failed to get going and the team was restricted to well within the target. Chetan Sharma was the top scorer with 23 off 17 balls (1×4, 2x6s).
