Kabul : Two Afghan employees of the electricity department were killed and at least eight more people were injured when a powerful bomb exploded inside the small building in southern Afghanistan, officials said here Saturday.
Claiming responsibility for the blast in Grishk district of Helmand province, purported Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi said the target was a police officer named Razak Khan.
Ahmadi claimed claimed the officer was injured in the blast, but Afghan officials denied this.
Muhammad Hussain Andiwal, police chief of Helmand province, told KUNA over the telephone that among those killed were employees working at the electricity department.
Six more employees suffered injuries while two civilians were also among the injured.
He said the explosives were planted inside the small building.
