New Delhi : The mercury across northern plains showed steady rise Sunday but the national capital saw another pleasant day with temperatures hovering around 34 degrees Celsius.
After a particularly long and harsh winter, the weather god is apparently being kind to Delhi as the capital is witnessing an unusual spell of breezy and moderate climate.
The day’s low in the city was around 20 degrees Celsius. Other states like Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and even Jammu and Kashmir saw a jump in the mercury.
The Met Office forecast a rainy start to the week in the northeastern states. Guwahati recorded 18.7 mm of rain and more is forecast for Monday.
Southern states are also likely to get rain as the influence of a cyclonic circulation over southeast Bay of Bengal and its neighbourhood.
The following were the maximum and minimum temperatures and rainfall in major cities for the 24 hours till Sunday morning, with figures in brackets denoting deviations from the average.
