Gaza : United Nations Relief and Works Agency(UNRWA) on Monday again suspended food aid delivery to the Gaza Strip due to fuel shortage.
The suspension, which comes after a few days of resumed functioning, is the second time during the past ten days. The UNRWA vehicles will be unable to transport food to the area distribution centers if Israel does not allow more fuel into Gaza, said Adnan Abu Hassna, a spokesman for the international organization.
The fuel shortage will block other UNRWA programs such as the education, relief and social services, he added.” More than 650,000 Palestinian refugees, the poorest class, highly depend on the UNRWA and the food aid they receive from it,” Hassna said.
Late April, the international relief organization suspended food aid delivery to Gaza refugees due to a severe fuel crisis in the Gaza Strip. The delivery resumed on April 29.Israel reduced fuel shipments into the Gaza Strip since last September, three months after the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) violently took over the territory.
