New Delhi : A five-member Indian team was announced here Wednesday to participate in the World Race Walking Cup, a qualifying event for the Beijing Olympics, scheduled in Cheboksary, Russia starting Sunday.
Chandan Singh, Babubhai Kesharbhai Panucha, Harminder Singh, Parayil Surendran Jalan and Basanta Bahadur Rana are the five athletes to take part in the 50 km walk event in the two-day tournament, a statement from the Indian Athletics Federation said.
The qualifying marks for the Beijing Olympics Games in the event are 4:00.00 (A Standard) and 4:07.00 (B Standard).
Two coaches Coach — Nikolai Snesarev and Harmana Ram — will accompany the team.
The tournament is being organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations.
