Malik support for Misbah on liquor controversy

By IANS,

New Delhi : Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik, standing by his team mate Misbah ul-Haq, said Wednesday there was no regulation in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that could stop its contracted players from associating themselves with liquor brands.

“There is no such regulation of the Pakistan Cricket Board,” Malik said, when asked whether there is any PCB regulation that prevents its players from endorsing liquor brands.

The Pakistani captain was speaking during a media interaction at the Feroze Shah Kotla here after a practice session with his team Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Malik, however, refused to comment on reports of PCB expressing concern over Misbah’s playing for Bangalore Royal Challengers, which is owned by liquor baron Vijay Mallya.

“This is a PCB matter. I have nothing to say. I am concentrating on my IPL game tomorrow and not to any other matter,” he said.

Malik also added that he was not happy with his performance and is working hard to win matches for Daredevils.
