Fundamentalism root cause for India’s problems: Maulana Arshad Madani

New Delhi: Fundamentalist forces are the root cause for the problems confronting India and “had communalism been checked fifty year ago, we would have had a different map of India,” said Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, ex-president, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind (JUH) on 8th May.

Addressing a press conference at Constitution Club in the national capital, he said fundamentalism was not an issue concerning a particular community, rather a problem for the whole country, and so everyone should come forward to counter it. The press conference was called in connection with an anti-terrorism conference to be organized on 10th May near Jama Masjid.

He further said he would fight against the fundamentalist forces with the cooperation and participation of secular, peace-loving and humanist individuals and organizations belonging to all schools of thought and religions.

Maulana Syed Arshad Madani said the objectives of All Gujarat Anti-terrorism Conference to be held in Palanpur in Gujarat under auspices of JUH on 10th May is to carry forward the anti-terrorism campaign that started from Darul Uloom Deoband. He further emphasized that such conferences would be held in every nook and corner of the country.

Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind is a socio-political organization which was established in 1919. It rallied around Mahatma Gandhi during the freedom struggle and opposed the creation of Pakistan.
