Senior officials suspended in Karzai”s attack case

Kabul : Police chief of Afghanistan’s central capital Kabul is among the seven senior officials suspended on the recommendation of the inquirty commission formed to investigate the April 27 attack on a military parade attended by President Hamid Karzai along with other senior officials and diplomats.

The suspension orders of the seven officials were issued by office of the Attorney General Abdul Jabbar Sabit on Monday.

Those suspended included Kabul police chief Salim Ihsaas, along with other senior officials of the defence and interior ministries and the intelligence department.

A spokesman for the Attorney General’s office said investigations against the suspended officials had been launched.

“They would be grilled by the investigation commission for negligence of duty,” said the spokesman.

A prominent Afghan legislator was among four people killed in the automatic weapons fire opened at the military parade in central Kabul on April 27.

President Hamid Karzai and other senior officials and foreign dignitaries were whisked away from the venue.

Security officials later said they had killed three of the attackers while their other colleagues were arrested and being investigated by the concerned security organs.
