London : British MPs belonging to the ruling Labour Party Wednesday issued a strong condemnation of the terrorist outrage in Jaipur, saying “the palace of India will not fall” to terrorism.
“People of ill-will can attack the palace of India, but the palace will not fall,” said Stephen Pound of the Labour Friends of India.
“It is important to realise that India is not just the largest democracy in the world, it is one of the greatest. It will never fall back or flinch from terrorist attacks,” Pound said, speaking on behalf of the large parliamentary grouping.
“If there’s one country in the world that will never be defeated by terrorism, it is India, and the sooner these people (terrorists) realise it the better,” he added.
At least 63 people died in seven coordinated blasts in Jaipur Tuesday evening.
The group expressed its condolences to the families of those killed in Tuesday’s attacks.
A recent meeting of the Labour Friends of India was addressed by Prime Minister Gordon Brown and drew a large number of non-resident Indian businessmen and professionals.
