Baghdad : A car bomb went off outside the headquarters of the key Sunni Arab political party in western Baghdad on Wednesday, killing two people and wounding 15 others, an interior ministry sources said.
“A booby-trapped car parked outside the headquarters of the Iraqi Islamic Party in Yarmouk neighborhood detonated at about 10:00 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), killing two people and wounding 15 others,” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Some of the victims were guards of the headquarters and members of the party, which is headed by Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi, the source said.
The powerful blast charred several nearby cars, including five vehicles belonging to the party, he said.
Sporadic attacks continue in the Iraqi capital despite the relative lull of violence across the war-torn country, according to U.S. and Iraqi officials.
